Join this workshop and get to explore techniques, chord sequences, and rhythmic patterns to achieve an authentic blues-y feel using your instrument or voice! Vocalists, you will learn how to explore your vocal range and use different tone qualities commonly featured in blues. Bassists will learn great patterns to groove within the blues structure and different time feelings such as playing behind the beat, shuffle or swing feel. Guitarists will develop a loose wrist to improve rhythm chops, i.e. when to mute, chicken scratch, or to sweep chords, how to use guitar, amp, and effect combos for different sections. Drummers will learn how to develop a solid time feeling, when to play fills and how to use your instrument with dynamics and musicality. Keyboard players, let's explore how to play and switch between organ, piano and Rhodes, and we will also expand your chord voicings. Come join us and have fun in this workshop!
